Ultimate Fighting Championship(UFC) is an upcoming martial arts event to be held in Las Vegas on July 11,2009. The event will include two championship bouts “Heavyweight and Welterweight” and a fight between the two coaches of the Ultimate Fighter. The event is a sold-out, before the tickets were even made to the public.
The main event will feature a rematch between UFC Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar and UFC Interim Heavyweight Champion, Frank Mir, a welterweight title fight between current champ Georges St. Pierre and top contender Thiago Alves, and a bout between "The Ultimate Fighter 9" coaches Michael Bisping and Dan Henderson.. The title unification bout occurred as a result of former UFC Heavyweight Champion, Randy Couture’s year-long resignation from the company.UFC 100 will be available live and only on Pay-Per-View on IN DEMAND,DIRECT TV,DISH Network,TVN,BellTV,Shaw Communications and Viewer’s Choice Canada for a suggested retail price of $44.95 for standard definition or high-definition broadcast (where available).
With an outstanding 9-1 record in the UFC (22-3,1 NC overall) and coming of an impressive win against Akihiro Gono in his last fight , Jon Fitch (fighting out of San Jose,Calif.) is one of the toughest fighters the welter weight division has to offer. With wins over Thiago Alves,Diego Sanchez,Brock Larson and Luigi Fioravanti , the ft. Wayne ,Indiana Native has dominated the championship and looks to one day hold the UFC welterweight strap. Standing in his way is the undefeated Paulo Thiago the brazialian jiu-jitsu black belt.
This year it’s the UFC 100. And its got its own reason
During the live airing of the program, Couture returned to the company and UFC President Dana White announced that he would defend his title against Lesnar at UFC 91. This meant that the winner of the Couture-Lesnar and Nogueira-Mir matches would face off for the undisputed crown. In his fourth professional fight, unfortunately for Couture, Lesnar defeated Couture via technical knockout to become the UFC Heavyweight Champion. Mir was crowned the interim champion after becoming the first fighter to ever finish Nogueira. The match between Lesnar and Mir was now set for UFC 98. However, Mir suffered a knee injury during training and was went forcibly out of the bout. It was announced a day later that the proposed fight would be moved to UFC 100 instead and we have this grand thing now. Lesnar and Mir have fought once before, during Brock's UFC debut at UFC 81. Lesnar controlled much of the bout in that, and mounted a successful ground and pound attack. During the exchange on the ground, Mir got hold of Lesnar's leg and locked up a kneebar. Lesnar could not escape and was forced to tap out, awarding Mir the victory.
The fight itself will be dynamite. So will the energy in the building at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas on July 11, but it's the lead up to the Brock Lesnar-Frank Mir fight at UFC 100 that will have this event breaking records and bringing in the casual sports fan. These guys don't like each and they also wisely know what it takes to hype a fight. You have to love the matter of fact fashion with which they trash each other and Brock aiming for his revenge this time we all where this is going to end.
While lesnar trashes Frank saying "He's one of those guys that waits to seize the opportunity. Some may call it preparation. I just call it luck." Frank says it’s a combination of luck and skill
Both have done mistakes in the past and would love to correct their mistakes and not repeat their mistakes again
Another match to be looked for is the third match on the card that’s between two top middleweight contenders, Dan Henderson and Michael Bisping. The two are opposing coaches in the ongoing season of The Ultimate Fighter: United States vs. United Kingdom, with Henderson leading Team USA and Bisping heading Team UK, respectively, this surely is a nation’s pride deciding for both. Henderson is a former Olympic Greco-Roman wrestler also noted for the punching power in his right hand and his excellent chin. He is the first fighter to concurrently hold championship belts in two separate weight classes in a major organization (he did so in PrideFC). Following the sale of PrideFC, Henderson entered the UFC and lost his championships to Quinton Jackson and Anderson Silva in back-to-back unification contests. His latest fight was a decision victory over Rich Franklin at UFC 93. Bisping started his career as a light heavyweight and was the winner of the third season of The Ultimate Fighter. He has compiled a professional MMA record of 18–1, and has been undefeated since moving to middleweight. He enters the bout with victories over Charles McCarthy, Jason Day and Chris Leben. On June 2nd it was announced that the winner of the Henderson-Bisping Fight will get a shot at the UFC Middleweight Championship against Anderson Silva at a later date. So it’s a fight between Henderson trying to regain his PrideFC victory days and Bisping trying to continue his winning streak!
This UFC would be too much to be missed even by casual sports fans. And with the cards planned this way it cannot get more interesting than this and surely would make one wait for July the 11th
